Experience the perfect fusion of East and West. Our Relaxation Thai Massage blends the rhythmic energy work of traditional Thai healing with soothing aromatic oils to calm your mind and restore your body right here in Devonport.
Life in Auckland has a habit of moving fast, and often, our bodies hold onto that pace long after we’ve clocked off. At Sinapha, we view Relaxation Thai Massage (often known as Thai Oil) as the antidote to the city rush.
This isn’t the dry, yoga-like stretching of traditional Thai massage, nor is it a standard rub-down. It is a curated blend of both worlds. We use high-quality oils to facilitate long, velvet-smooth strokes that glide over the skin, paired with the intuitive pressure of Thai energy work.
The aim here isn’t to force knots apart with heavy elbows; it is to coax tension out of the muscles gently. By tracing your body’s natural Sen lines (energy pathways) with a rhythmic, hypnotic touch, we help your nervous system switch from “fight or flight” into a state of deep, restorative rest.
We tailor this session for those who want to float out of the studio, rather than limp. It is a softer, more fluid approach to healing.
We harmonise Swedish-style effleurage (gliding strokes) with subtle Thai acupressure. This encourages circulation and lymphatic drainage without the intensity of a deep tissue treatment.
Aromatherapy plays a vital role. We utilise specific essential oil blends that signal the brain to slow down, while the warmth of the oil nourishes dry or tired skin.
Even without deep pressure, we address stagnation. By smoothing out the energy lines, you’ll leave feeling lighter and mentally clearer, rather than just physically loose.
Unlike Traditional Thai Massage (which is fully clothed), this treatment uses oil directly on the skin. You will be draped professionally with warm towels throughout the session to ensure you feel secure, warm, and comfortable at all times.
Clients in Devonport choose Traditional Thai Massage when they need to feel invigorated rather than sleepy. It is excellent for correcting posture, relieving back pain, and boosting energy levels. Many leave the studio feeling taller, lighter, and more alert.
To keep that “walking on air” feeling once you leave our Devonport calm, we suggest a few small rituals.
Don't rush to shower. We use premium oils that do wonders for the skin. If you can, let them absorb for a few hours to maximise the hydration and aromatherapy benefits.
Drink up. Even gentle massage stimulates the movement of lymph fluids. A glass of water helps your body flush out the metabolic waste we’ve stirred up.
Keep the pace. Your blood pressure and heart rate will likely be lower after the session. Try to avoid high-intensity exercise for the rest of the evening—just enjoy the stillness.
The primary difference is the medium and the method. Traditional Thai is performed dry (fully clothed) and involves yoga-like stretches. Relaxation Thai uses oil on the skin and focuses on smooth gliding strokes. It is less active and more soothing.
It shares similarities, but with a unique Thai signature. While we use the long, calming strokes typical of Swedish massage, our therapists also apply thumb pressure along the Sen energy lines, offering a more holistic sense of balance.
Yes, but the approach is different. If you have rock-hard tension, we might suggest Deep Tissue. However, Relaxation Thai can still release tension effectively by relaxing the mind first—sometimes, when the brain relaxes, the muscles follow suit without needing force.
Since we use oil, you will need to undress down to your underwear (or whatever level you are comfortable with). We use expert towel draping techniques to ensure your privacy is strictly maintained throughout the treatment. Note: we do not provide sexual services.
We deliver personalised wellness experiences designed to relax the body, refresh the mind, and restore inner balance.
